About

I’m Georges Daou, an architect and designer based in Paris. I’m building Geste independently, around something I wanted to use myself. I’m also developing Weekal, coming soon.

Why I started.

The idea isn’t new. There are plenty of apps for tracking food, recording exercise and keeping a journal. I wanted to bring those things together in a focused app that fits my own needs.

For me, that means being able to note what I eat, keep a record of my movement and write a few words about the day, without moving between several apps. Some days I want the detail. On others, a quick entry is enough.

Designed around use.

My work in architecture shapes how I approach the interface. I pay attention to proportion, spacing and the order in which information appears. Those choices affect how easily you can find a meal, adjust a portion or return to a note.

I want Geste to feel considered and easy to use. The details should be there when you need them, with a clear place for each part of the day. I keep revisiting the small things: a label, a button, the number of steps it takes to save something.

An independent project.

Geste grows from my own use, the things I find awkward and the feedback people share with me. I’m making the decisions and refining the app as I go. Building around my needs gives it a starting point; hearing how other people use it helps me question those choices.

When building Geste, I use AI only for coding, through “vibe coding”. All design decisions are mine: the layouts, typography, colours and interactions.

Geste is available on iPhone, with an Android version coming soon on Google Play. If you try it, I’d like to hear what feels useful, what gets in your way and what you wish it could do.
